Climbing the
Central America Volcanoes
Tacaná y Tajumulco inside Mam Culture

Volcanoes of Central America are characteristic for
the diversification of its flora and fauna, unique
for its beauty.
To ascend the volcano Tacaná (4.080 Mt), the tour
begins in the thick, humid jungle of Union Juarez,
and passes through the ancient Mayan town of Tonala
in which
ancient
cultures intact Mam still live among the common
people. Through a gradual change between forest and
montane forest, the summit is achieved after a
two-day tour, which also includes a night in a tent
in a quiet little valley.
Descending from the volcano, run the border into
Guatemala and begin the ascent Tajumulco Volcano,
with its 4200 meters is the highest in Central
America.
After a few hours away, it will reach the crater,
above the clouds, where you may admire the remains
of former bracers who to this day deal for the same
old rituals.
